Multilayer Chip Inductor

Chip inductors, also known as surface-mount inductors, are a new generation of leadless or short-lead miniature electronic components suitable for Surface Mount Technology (SMT), just like other chip components (SMC and SMD).

Multilayer Type

It features excellent magnetic shielding, high sintering density, and good mechanical strength. Its disadvantages include low yield rate, high cost, small inductance value, and low Q factor.

Compared with wire-wound chip inductors, it has many advantages:

  • Small size, which is conducive to circuit miniaturization
  • Closed magnetic path, which does not interfere with surrounding components and is immune to interference from adjacent components, supporting high-density component mounting
  • Integrated structure with high reliability
  • Good heat resistance and solderability
  • Regular shape, suitable for automatic surface-mount production

Thin-Film Chip Type

It features high Q factor, high precision, high stability, and small size in the microwave frequency band.

Its internal electrodes are concentrated on the same layer with concentrated magnetic field distribution, ensuring little change in device parameters after mounting. It exhibits excellent frequency characteristics above 100 MHz.
