A composite tube is a vacuum tube containing more than two electrode systems inside its envelope, where each electrode system independently conducts electron flow to fulfill its own function.

A composite tube is formed by combining two or more triodes in a certain pattern to be equivalent to a single triode, and it is also known as a Darlington tube. The specific connection is as follows: taking two triodes of the same polarity as an example, the collector of the front triode is connected to the collector of the rear triode, and the emitter of the front triode is connected to the base of the rear triode. The power of the front triode is generally smaller than that of the rear triode. The base of the front triode serves as the base of the Darlington tube, and the emitter of the rear triode serves as the emitter of the Darlington tube. It is used in the same way as a triode, and its amplification factor is the product of the amplification factors of the two triodes.
